Nutrition Strategies I Used to Lose 70lbs

Writer's picture: DylanDylan

I want to share five simple but effective nutrition tips I’ve given clients over the years. These same strategies helped me lose 70 pounds back in 2010 when I first started my own fitness journey.

Remember—what you do outside the gym (your diet, sleep, and stress management) plays a bigger role in your results than the training itself.

5 Random Nutrition Tips for Better Results:

1️⃣ Never eat a meal without protein. Most people don’t get enough protein to support muscle growth and recovery. Even if it means adding a protein shake, make sure every meal includes a solid protein source.

2️⃣ Floss after dinner. Struggling with late-night snacking? Try flossing and brushing your teeth right after dinner—you’ll be way less tempted to snack afterward.

3️⃣ Drink a protein shake before going out to eat. Ever show up to a restaurant starving and demolish the bread, appetizers, a full meal, and dessert—only to regret it later? I’ve been there. A quick protein shake before heading out can help curb hunger and prevent overeating.

4️⃣ Set a weekly alcohol limit. If fat loss and muscle-building are your goals, alcohol can work against you by disrupting sleep and recovery. Start with a reasonable limit (ideally three or fewer drinks per week) and gradually cut back if needed.

5️⃣ Plan your meals ahead of time. Just like you plan your work schedule, plan your meals. Whether that means packing meals in advance or looking up healthy restaurant options before heading out, a little preparation goes a long way.

Which of these tips do you already use? Or which one are you going to try?
